| FAQ |

1) Do I need to have any dance background for classes?

No, you do not need to have former dance training for the open/ multi level classes. However, for progressive classes such as Street Jazz, it is advisable to begin with the Beginners course before progressing to more advanced courses to ensure that you have acquired the right techniques for more advanced classes.

Alternatively, make an appointment and talk to our instructors for their advice.

2) I have had some dance experience. How do I know if I may be able to fit into the more advanced classes?

You can arrange to speak with our instructors before a class so that they may assess your level and advise an appropriate class or sign up for a one-time class to try it out before proceeding to sign up for the entire course.

3) How would I know if I am able to catch up in a multi-level class?

We usually offer progressive alternative to a move and try to moderate the pace of teaching to accommodate the general standard of the class. Anyway, most classes are usually a frenzy to follow at the very beginning when you are not used to the individual styles of instructors. Just press on and try out a few more classes and it’d soon be a breeze.

4) I do not know what style of dance I am really interested in.

Then we suggest you try out our Dance-A-Mania courses as well as our occasional workshop specials. These classes can incorporate various dance styles so that you are able to try out for yourself and select from our ‘buffet’ of dance forms. Alternatively, check out our dance description and contact our friendly instructors for some advice.

5) What do I wear for classes?

For a start, come in comfy gym or workout wear which allows ease of movement. For footwear, you may wish to come in trainers, dance sneakers, ballet slippers or jazz boots. No stilettos, pointe shoes or flip flops please.

6) How do I make payment?

You may register with us to confirm a slot for the class you wish to attend before the closing date via email or call us. Confirmation of registration is upon receipt of payment.

Payment modes:

a) do a cheque drop to our UOB account, payable to DANCEFUSION and pls do write the a/c number #3553049049 on the back; or

b) do a bank transfer to the same account, bank code 7375 and branch code 015. Pls indicate your name for reference.

Please do let us know via sms after you have completed the transfer or cheque drop so that we may keep track; or

c) You may wish to contact us to arrange to come by our studio to make a payment in cash or cheque only.

7) Do I need to bring a partner for the classes?

No, you do not need a partner for most of our courses and workshops.

8) Can I really dance after I have taken classes?

As with all classes, individual progress varies. Students are encouraged to progress to higher levels to acquire further techniques to better their dance moves. As one of the judges of ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ puts it: ‘Good dancers are in class all the time.’

9) What will I do in each class?

You’d typically go through a warm-up exercise together with some floorwork as required. You’d then go through a series of progression exercises for techniques classes such as Street Jazz followed by a dance routine, cool-down exercises and stretching. Classes are usually conducted over an hour except for Jazz classes or workshops which are one-and-half hour or longer.

10) I do not wish to take up a course but need to go through a speed choreography for an event.

You can contact us for our choreography services as well as private lessons. Charges are dependent on the nature of the class. Please contact us for more information.

11) I wish to perform. Can I join Dancefusion as a performer?

We may invite students of the right caliber and attitude to join our performance team. For non-students who are keen to join us, you may contact us to arrange for an audition.

12) Where exactly is Dancefusion?

That’s a good one! We are everywhere! Dancefusion operates with a virtual online concept to be accessible to most people. We conduct classes at various studios listed on our ‘Contacts_Locations’ page. This is to enable us to operate more efficiently and to make life easier so students do not need to travel half the globe just to get to class. We are also constantly on the lookout for new and better dance studio locations. So if you do have a studio to recommend, please do not hesitate to drop us a line.

13) Can I do a replacement/make-up class if I miss classes in the course?

We know that sometimes our students cannot attend some classes due to unforeseen circumstances. With valid reasons, we can understand. So please let the instructor know early and we can allow a replacement of up to 2 classes in the next same course or 1 next workshop.

14) Can you tell me more about Dancefuson's membership scheme?

The new membership fee would be $20/annum for all new students. For all existing students who have taken classes with us in 2008 to date, we are pleased to waive the membership fee for you guys till the end of Dec 08. Thereafter, a one-time membership fee of $20/ annum would be applicable upon registration for your first dance course in 2009 if you wish to enjoy membership privileges.

In view of our collaboration, if you are a Groove member, you can get to enjoy preferential rates for all dance courses by Dancefusion too.

We are also able to conduct corporate or private group classes at your location.
